UCLA history department brings three former L.A. mayors to campus

Part of the ongoing “Why History Matters” speaker series


As California and Los Angeles public officials take center stage in the national media, the UCLA history department invites three former mayors of Los Angeles to campus. In an event called “Why History Matters: Mayors Past on the Present and Future of Los Angeles,” the former city leaders will discuss the city’s role in a charged political climate.


Panelists: Richard Riordan, James Hahn, Antonio Villaraigosa.
Moderator: Jim Newton, lecturer in communication studies and public policy at UCLA, author, former journalist at the Los Angeles Times.
