The Fiat Lux advisory committee is now accepting seminar proposals for 2018-19. The deadline to submit a proposal for winter quarter is Monday, Nov. 12, and the deadline to submit a proposal for spring quarter is Monday, Feb. 4.

With greater faculty interest and more engagement from the professional schools, Fiat Lux has generated more course variety, as evidenced by the 200 seminars offered last year.

Patricia Turner, dean and vice provost of undergraduate education in the UCLA College, is offering an extra $500 in addition to the $1,500 chancellor’s award to faculty who develop centennial seminars. With 2019 marking UCLA’s founding, the Fiat Lux advisory committee would like to use the program to showcase the university’s accomplishments and contributions to society through research, teaching and service. The Fiat Lux program’s goals are to offer 100 seminars to celebrate UCLA’s centennial anniversary.

Faculty may propose seminars through the course inventory management system website. For general information about the program, visit the Fiat Lux seminar website.
