Growing concerns about links between Zika virus and fetal neurological disorders are discussed by a panel of experts from the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health in a program presented by the UCLA Center for World Health and HealthPeople.
“Tackling Zika: A UCLA Forum on Facts, Fears, Questions and Solutions” takes place on Tuesday, April 19, 5:30 p.m. reception, 6-7:30 p.m. program, at the Neuroscience Research Building Auditorium.
The panel will be moderated by New York Times reporter Andrew Pollack, who coversthe business and science of biotechnology. Panel members include:
- Dr. Timothy Brewer, UCLA professor of medicine and vice provost of Interdisciplinary and cross campus affairs
- Dr. Karin Nielsen, UCLA clinical professor of pediatrics in the Division of Infectious Diseases
- Dr. Neil Silverman, UCLA clinical professor of obstetrics and gynecology and an obstetrician and gynecologist at the Center for Fetal Medicine and Women’s Ultrasound
- Dr. Laurene Mascola, chief of the Acute Communicable Disease Program for the L.A. County Department of Public Health
