Aradhna Tripati, associate professor of Earth, planetary and space sciences at UCLA, has been named the 2017 recipient of the Geological Society of America’s Bromery Award for Minorities. The award is given to a minority scientist who has made significant contributions to research in the geological sciences, or those who have been instrumental in opening the geoscience field to other minorities.

Tripati’s research focuses on geology and tectonics, geochemistry and cosmochemistry and geobiology. Her lab specializes in understanding how “clumped” compounds can be used as a tool to address questions pertaining to climate change, earth systems history and sedimentary geology, among other topics.

Tripati will receive her award during the Geological Society’s annual meeting in October. More information about this year’s awards can be found here.
