The Hammer Museum at UCLA is hosting a free screening of “Berta Vive,” a 30-minute film about the life of Honduran activist, Berta Cáceres, who was assassinated in 2016 for organizing opposition to a hydroelectric dam on Lenca territory. Following the film, artist Carolina Caycedo will join journalist Silvio Carillo and UC Berkeley law professor Roxanna Altholz to discuss the film and how indigenous people have struggled for environmental rights.
The program will begin at 7:30 p.m. and will take place in the Billy Wilder Theater. This event is free. Tickets are required and will be available at the box office one hour before the program. Members will receive priority ticketing until 7:15 p.m.
