"Every day in American cities, street vendors spread out their wares on sidewalks, food trucks serve lunch from the curb, and homeowners hold sales in their front yards--examples of the wide range of informal activities that take place largely beyond the reach of government regulation," wrote professors Anastasia Loukaitou-Sideris and Vinit Mukhija of the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs in their latest book, "The Informal American City: Beyond Taco Trucks and Day Labor."
The authors, joined by Luskin School professors Abel Valenzuela and Donald Shoup, will lead a discussion of their book as well as the challenges and responses related to informal urbanism. Thursday, Oct. 2, 5-6 p.m. in 2355 Public Affairs Building. A book signing will follow. Find information here.
