UCLA employees' interest in an ongoing program that enables their children to attend certain LAUSD schools in the vicinity of UCLA has been so strong that four schools have now been added to the list. For the 2017-18 academic year, employees can apply for their children to attend eight schools.
Applications will be available at the beginning of February on the TIE-INS website, which also provides detailed information about the participating schools and upcoming events such as parent meetings and campus tours. The application period will close April 1, 2017.
Launched in 2009, TIE-INS enables children of UCLA employees to attend certain LAUSD schools even if the family lives outside of the school’s attendance area. The program has been very popular among UCLA faculty and staff; more than 500 children have participated since the program’s inception.
For 2017–18, the participating schools are:
• Beethoven Street Elementary School (new) |

|
• Broadway Elementary School (new) |

• Brockton Elementary School |

• Nora Sterry Elementary School |

• Walgrove Avenue Elementary School (new) |

• Emerson Middle School |

• Mark Twain Middle School (new) |

• University High School |
All UCLA academic appointees and career (non-probationary) staff at any classification level are eligible to apply. Preference will be given to kindergartners and first-graders (and their elementary school-aged siblings), and acceptance will be based on priorities established by deans and vice chancellors.
UCLA is working closely with the TIE-INS schools to support their goals for academic excellence and to ensure a smooth transition for new students and their parents.
