Comparative literature professor to give keynote speech at Berlin conference

Shu-mei Shih, professor of comparative literature, Asian languages and cultures and Asian American studies at UCLA, will deliver the keynote speech at Institut für Asien- und Afrikawissenschaften’s conference at Humboldt University in Berlin.

The conference, “Sinophone Meets Francophone,” brings together leading international scholars of Sinophone and Francophone studies to explore and compare the conceptual boundaries underlying both terms.

Shih has extensively published on the Sino identity, transnationalism and feminism. She currently co-directs the “Cultures in Transnational Perspective” Mellon Postdoctoral Program in the Humanities.
