Emergency services to be maintained during UCLA's annual campus closure
[Dec. 3]
UCLA will close for a winter holiday break from Thursday, Dec. 24 to Sunday, Jan. 3, 2016. The campus will reopen on Monday, Jan. 4.
The 11-day closure includes four university-paid holidays (Dec. 24, 25 and 31, and Jan. 1, 2016.) Three days of the closure are not paid holidays (December 28, 29 and 30). For information about using vacation days or compensatory time for the three non-holidays, see this Campus Human Resources page as well as FAQs. Employees who normally pick up their paychecks will also find information at these sites about where and when to do so during the break or how to set up direct deposit to their bank accounts.
The annual winter closures have enabled UCLA to reduce energy consumption and costs by reducing heating, cooling and ventilation to non-essential campus buildings. These services will, however, remain in effect at selected facilities durding the break. The campus will maintain emergency response capabilities by UCLA police, fire and other incident responders, and Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center will be open. Find information on plans for particular facilities and services here.
If you have further questions about your department’s holiday-closure plans, contact your supervisor. For questions regarding UCLA personnel policies, email Lazetta Smith in Campus Human Resources or call 310-794-3147. UCLA Health Systems employees should email Maure Gardner or call 310-794-0500.
