Bruce Whiteman, librarian emeritus of UCLA’s William Andrews Clark Memorial Library and a Canadian poet and writer, returns to the Clark to read from his work on Tuesday, Nov. 18, 4 p.m.
Whiteman will read from the full range of his work, from the long poem form to his more lyrical poetry. The emphasis will be on poems from “Intimate Letters” (ECW Press, 2014) — the seventh book of an ongoing long poem in prose called “The Invisible World Is in Decline” — and the manuscript of “Tablature,” scheduled for publication in the spring of 2015. He will also read a few translations (from French) and conclude with new, unpublished poems from a book to be called “The Sad Mechanic Exercise.”
Learn more about Whiteman at the Hamilton Poetry Centre. The event is presented by the UCLA Center for 17th- and 18th-Century Studies. Admission is free, but space at the Clark is limited, so advance registration closes by Nov. 13 or when seating capacity has been reached. Find event details and register here.
