David Roussève is the new associate dean for Academic Affairs in the UCLA School of the Arts and Architecture.
A professor of choreography, Roussève joined the Department of World Arts and Cultures|Dance in 1996 and served as department chair from 2003-2006. A magna cum laude graduate of Princeton University, Roussève has also served on the faculties of Princeton University, Columbia College, and Randolph Macon College, among others.
Roussève is artistic director of David Roussève/REALITY, a dance/theater company that has toured throughout the United States, Europe and South America, and for which he has written, directed, and choreographed 13 full-length works since 1988. He has received numerous awards, including a Guggenheim Fellowship, a “Bessie” (N.Y. Dance and Performance Award), three LA Horton Awards, the Cal Arts/Alpert Award in Dance, seven consecutive Fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, and First Place Screen Choreography award at the IMZ International Dance Film Festival.
As a writer, Roussève was twice a Fellow in the Sundance Feature Film Development program Screenwriter’s Lab. His writing has been published in Bantam Press’ "Rants and Raves from Today’s Top Performance Artists" and Rutledge Press’ "Envisioning Dance on Film."
