Lauren McCarthy, assistant professor of design media arts in the UCLA School of the Arts and Architecture, was selected to participate in the 2019 American Arts Incubator program.
McCarthy will travel to South Korea to collaborate with underserved communities for a month, during which she will work on sharing skills in art, technology and entrepreneurship. Through a digital and new media art workshop, she will explore social and environmental challenges relevant to the communities she visits.
McCarthy’s work explores social and technological systems and structures for human interaction. She is also the creator of p5.js, an open source platform for learning creative expression through code online.
