Charles Jensen, program director of the UCLA Extension writers’ program, was recently awarded the Poetry Prize from Zócalo Public Square.
The editorial staff selected Jensen’s poem from more than 1,000 submissions for his ability to describe the relationship between man and nature. He will deliver a public reading of his poem at Zócalo’s annual Book Prize award ceremony on May 22 at the National Center for the Preservation of Democracy in Los Angeles.
Jensen is the author of six chapbooks of poems including “The Nanopedia Quick-Reference Pocket Lexicon of Contemporary American Culture” and “Breakup/Breakdown.” He is the founding editor of the online poetry magazine LOCUSPOINT, which explores creative work on a city-by-city basis.
Jensen’s poem and interview can be found on Zócalo Public Square.
