Chee Wei Wong, a professor of electrical and computer engineering in the UCLA Samueli School of Engineering, has received the 2018 NIH trailblazer award for new and early stage investigators.

This award is from the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering. It is based on his groups’ recent innovation of precision magnetometry at the thermodynamical and quantum limits, toward brain imaging and quantum-limited sensing with the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.

Wong’s research interests include nonlinear optics, quantum optics, ultrafast optics and precision measurements. He has previously been honored in 2016 with a Google faculty research award and in 2008 with a photonic technology access program research award.
