Andrea Fraser, professor of new genres in the UCLA art department, will have a comprehensive survey of her work exhibited in the Museum de Moderne Salzburg in Austria.
Fraser’s innovative use of feminist themes in her art as a vehicle for institutional critique, maintains her place as a pioneer in a generation of critical artists. Enlivening her exhibitions with performance pieces, she marries humor and pathos with theatrical craft and sophisticated critical analysis.
She has conducted extensive research since the mid-1980s on the social, institutional, economic, and psychological structures and strategies in contemporary fields of art — challenging us to question the motivation of different stakeholders in the cultural scene.
The exhibition, which displays over 50 works that span Fraser’s craft over the last three decades, will run until July 5.
