The event, held in room 208 in Kaufman Hall, will be led by the book’s author, Pallabi Chakravorty, who is an associate professor of music and dance at Swarthmore College. Drawing on ethnographic research among reality show dancers and Bollywood back-up dancers in India, Chakravorty will show how a new generation of dancers and choreographers are performing consumerist modernity in India.
