Feb. 2: Screening of “Working Girl” with Sigourney Weaver

Coming Feb. 2 to the Billy Wilder Theater, a screening of the 1988 hit “Working Girl,” which will be followed by a Q&A with actress Sigourney Weaver.

The film, directed by Mike Nichols, is being presented by the UCLA Film and Television Archive as part of its series, “Working Girls: America’s Career Women on Screen.” The screening will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Billy Wilder Theater, which is inside the Hammer Museum at UCLA.

“Working Girl” portrays the tenacity of women in the workplace as a secretary, played by Melanie Griffith, moves her way up through the executive ranks while sporting the wardrobe and hairstyle to match. Weaver, who plays financial executive Katharine Parker in the film, and Los Angeles Times film reporter Jen Yamato will follow the screening with a conversation.
