UCLA and the Consulate General of Australia in Los Angeles will host a conference on security challenges and economic cooperation in the Asia-Pacific on Friday, Jan. 29, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. in the Grand Horizon Room, UCLA Covel Commons.
The meeting — which is part of the U.S.-wide annual program, G’Day USA — will feature senior U.S. and Australian officials as well as academic and business leaders from both countries.
Topics to be discussed will include the slowing pace of economic growth in China, the Trans Pacific Partnership trade agreement, rising tensions with North Korea, the conflict in the South China Sea and the growing threat of terrorism.
Among the notable participants will be:

- Australian Consul General Chelsey Martin and Lachlan Roach, Economic Diplomacy Officer, Australian Consulate Los Angeles
- Cindy Fan, Vice Provost, UCLA International Institute
