Henry Takei receives honorary doctorate from two Japanese universities

Professor Henry Takei

Dr. Henry H. Takei, Distinguished Clinical Professor of Periodontics at the UCLA School of Dentistry, has received an honorary doctorate degree from Meikai University and Asahi University, two major universities in Japan. The degree was given to Takei in recognition of more than 30 years of outstanding service and dedication to the promotion and facilitation of the international relationship between UCLA and the Japanese universities, where he was instrumental in establishing the Permanently Endowed Student Exchange Program and the Continuing Education Programs.

Takei has been active in continuing dental education throughout the world, having presented more than 600 lectures and seminars in the United States, Canada, Europe, Asia and South America. He has also given more than 200 continuing education courses for UCLA. He has been a faculty member at the UCLA School of Dentistry since 1967 and a clinical professor since 1980. He received his D.D.S., M.S. and certificate in periodontics from Marquette University.
