The UCLA Center for European and Russian Studies is hosting “From Stalin to Mao: Albania and the Socialist World,” a free book presentation by the author, Elidor Mëhilli, on Thursday, Jan. 17 in 10383 Bunche Hall.
The event, which is from noon to 1:30 p.m., will capture the globalism of post-1945 socialism, as well as the unintended consequences of cross-border exchanges from the Mediterranean to East Asia. Mëhilli will discuss how socialism created a shared transnational material and mental culture, still evident today around Eurasia, and also how it failed to generate political unity.
All are welcome to attend. No reservations are required.
