Jody Herman, Williams Institute Scholar of Public Policy, this month received a Certificate of Recognition from the California State Senate for her work as chair of the Health Policy Track at the 2015 National Transgender Health Summit, held in Oakland.
The 2015 National Transgender Health Summit was sponsored by the Center of Excellence for Transgender Health and is the premier national conference on transgender health. The Summit’s educational sessions featured four tracks: clinical, mental health, research, and the health policy institute. Herman served as chair of the health policy institute with four other people. The Health Policy Institute featured sessions on models of care for transgender health, increasing access to health insurance coverage, insurance billing and coding for transition-related care, and data collection to improve transgender health.
