June 18: Hammer screening of 'An American Tail'

Scene from "An American Tail"

UCLA Film and Television Archive and the Hammer Museum have teamed up to offer a series of matinee screenings of new and classic family-friendly films from around the world. As part of their “Family Flicks Film Series,” they will screen “An American Tail” in the Billy Wilder Theater on June 18 at 11 a.m.

In this animated musical, Fievel Mousekewitz and his family of Russian-Jewish mice flee the Czarist rule of cats in the 1800s, boarding a boat to America where “there are no cats … and the streets are paved with cheese.” This sweet, tender immigrant tale is a poignant reminder of the importance of family and inclusion, perfect for Father’s Day.

The event is free and open to the public. All ages are welcome. You can find more information about the event here
