Cara Horowitz, Andrew Sabin Family Foundation co-executive director of the Emmett Institute on Climate Change and the Environment, has been appointed to the Executive Committee of the California State Bar’s Environment Law Section. Horowitz, who is also co-director of the UCLA Environmental Law Clinic, began her three-year term in October.
Horowitz has worked with the California State Bar’s Environmental Law Section for approximately seven years, serving as a coach of UCLA Law’s student teams participating in the statewide Environmental Negotiation Competition and as a moderator for several panels at the State Bar’s Environmental Law Conference at Yosemite. She teaches at the law school and directs the work of the Emmett Institute to advance innovative research, public policy debate, and legislative reform to address climate change and its effects.
Horowitz serves on the governing boards of local and national environmental organizations, including the Climate Law Institute, Climate Resolve and the Climate Change Law Foundation. Prior to joining UCLA Law, she worked as a lawyer at the Natural Resources Defense Council, where she litigated high-profile cases and advocated domestically and internationally to protect oceans and wildlife.
