True Bruin Move and Groove participants will be able to run/walk their 5K any time during the week of Sunday, March 26 through Sunday, April 2, anywhere they choose. Participants will track their run using one of several popular tracking apps and submit a screenshot.

Regardless of fitness level or age, the event is open to everyone. and participants can jog, walk, crawl, bike, hike or run alone, in a group, or with a pet. Proceeds from the 5K will benefit Staff Assembly’s staff scholarship program.

As part of the paid registration, participants will receive perks, including a T-shirt, a medal and a goodie bag. Submitted screenshots of the run allows participants a chance to compete for various prize categories such as top finisher in each age group, top team award, most creative course route and most exotic location.

Run tracking must include the following information to qualify: distance with a minimum of 5K, or 3.1 miles; a map of the chosen course route; run time; average speed; location, including city and state; and elevation, if competing for the climber’s award. Examples of usable run-tracking apps include Runkeeper, Strava, MapMyRun, Endomondo, Sports Tracker, RunGo, Google Fit and Runtastic.

Participants must submit their screenshots online by 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, April 2, through the True Bruin submission page.

Registration for the 5K is $20. Register online by Friday, March 24. Group discounts for UCLA campus departments are available. Contact Staff Assembly at staffassembly@ucla.edu for more details.
