See a free screening of “MIND/GAME: The Unquiet Journey of Chamique Holdsclaw,” a documentary about former WBNA player Chamique Holdsclaw, who struggled with depression as a student athlete at the University of Tennessee and during her professional basketball career with the Washington Mystics, Los Angeles Sparks and Atlanta Dream. In her recovery, Holdsclaw has emerged as an inspiring mental health advocate.
The UCLA Mental Health Awareness event is free and open to the public on Wednesday, May 18, 5:30-8 p.m. at UCLA’s De Neve Auditorium. Following the screening is a conversation with Holdsclaw, filmmaker Rick Goldsmith, L.A. Lakers player Metta World Peace (who also appears in the film) and Dr. Andrew Leuchter, professor of psychiatry and biobehavioral sciences at UCLA’s Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior.
Co-sponsors are UCLA Residential Life, the Friends of the Semel Institute, Counseling and Psychological Services, the Department of Athletics and Student Athlete Mentors.
