May 4: Korean music concert featuring gamin

The ethnomusicology department and the UCLA Center for Korean Studies are co-hosting a performance by gamin, a performer of traditional Korean instruments on Friday, May 4.

The concert, which will start at 12 p.m. in the ensemble room in the Ostin Music Center, will feature traditional Korean music, as well as more contemporary music and improvisation. The performance will be live streamed under the channel “Ensemble Room.”

Gamin, a member of Seoul’s Contemporary Gugak Orchestra for 10 years, trained in traditional court music and also studied the techniques of shaman ritual music.

The event is free and open to the public, but RSVP is requested. There is a suggested donation.
