Pedro Noguera, currently the Peter L. Agnew Professor of Education at New York University, has been appointed by Marcelo Suárez-Orozco, Wasserman Dean of UCLA’s Graduate School of Education and Information Studies (GSEIS), as a Distinguished Professor of Education, effective this fall.
Noguera is a renowned expert on issues in urban education including education and economic and social development, education in other countries, race and schooling, immigration/migration, parents and schools, leadership and school reform and student achievement.
“Pedro Noguera, America’s go-to education public intellectual, is a prolific scholar, a brilliant lecturer, and all-around mensch,” said Suárez-Orozco. “His arrival at UCLA adds luminance to our stellar faculty and accelerates the momentum of our work on transforming public education for all children and youth in Los Angeles and beyond. We are delighted to welcome Pedro to the UCLA family.”
