Talented students of the Ray Bolger Musical Theater program of the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television stage a new revival of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “Carousel,” May 6 -14 at the Freud Playhouse.
The classic musical tells the story of 19th century carnival barker Billy Bigelow, who returns to Earth one day after a lifetime of mistakes to right the wrongs of his misguided youth and to help his lonely daughter. Based on the play "Liliom" by Ferenc Molnar, “Carousel” was the favorite musical of composing team Rodgers and Hammerstein, who created such classic songs as "June is Bustin’ Out All Over" and "You’ll Never Walk Alone." The play, directed by UCLA adjunct associate professor Jeremy Mann, with musical direction by adjunct associate professor Dan Belzer, will feature Broadway actress Linda Kerns along with Ray Bolger Musical Theater program students.
"Carousel" runs May 6-7 and 10-14 at 8 p.m. and May 14 at 2 p.m. Purchase tickets here.
