Dominic Thomas, chair of the UCLA Department of French and Francophone Studies, and acting chair of the departments of Germanic, Italian, and Scandinavian languages, has been appointed the European affairs commentator for CNN.
Thomas has been featured prominently as an analyst on CNN and CNN International. Given his extensive knowledge of European culture and politics overall, Thomas’ expertise is utilized on all topics European.
Thomas has held fellowships, residencies, and visiting professorships in Australia, France, Germany, Mali, South Korea, the United Kingdom, and the United States. He was elected to the Academy of Europe in 2015 and promoted to the rank of Officier dans l’Ordre des Palmes Académiques in 2016. His interests lie in European politics, immigration, racism and globalization.
