Professor honored by chemical engineering institute

Panagiotis Christofides

Panagiotis Christofides, professor of chemical and biomolecular engineering and holder of the William D. Van Vorst Chair of Chemical Engineering, has been selected to receive the 2018 Computing in Chemical Engineering Award of the computing and systems technology division of the American Institute of Chemcal Engineers.

The computing and systems technology division is responsible for the wide range of activities within the institute that involve the application of computers and mathematics to chemical engineering problems including process design, process control, operations and applied mathematics. Christofides was selected for his contributions to nonlinear process control. The award is the highest honor in systems, control and computing within chemical engineering.

Christofides has been previously honored by the computing and systems technology division with the Outstanding Young Researcher Award in 2008 and with the Ted Peterson Student Paper Award in 1999.
