Yizhou Sun, associate professor of computer science in the UCLA Samueli School of Engineering, received the 2019 Okawa Foundation research grant.
The foundation awards these $10,000 grants for research in information and telecommunication. Sun’s research focuses on neural operators for mining, searching and reasoning on graphs, and also explores data from different domains like online social networks and biomedical networks.
She has been honored many times, including the the 2018 Amazon Research Award, the 2015 National Science Foundation Career Award and the 2013 Association for Computing Machinery Dissertation Award.
