Two respected authors will come to UCLA's Hammer Museum to discuss the blurred lines between reality and fiction and read excerpts from their works. On Thursday, May 29 at 7:30 p.m., Donald Antrim and Karl Ove Knausgaard will lecture on “The Alternative Uses of Real Life in Fiction & Memoir.” The event is part of the Hammer's "Some Favorite Authors" series.
Antrim is the author of the memoir “The Afterlife” and the novels “Elect Mr. Robinson for a Better World,” “The Hundred Brothers” and “The Verificationist.” He is a MacArthur Fellow and teaches in the writing program at Columbia University.
Knausgaard is a Norwegian author best known for his series of six autobiographical books called “My Struggle,” which has sold nearly half a million copies in Norway and has been translated into more than 15 languages.
The presentations and readings will be followed by a discussion led by "Some Favorite Authors" series organizer Mona Simpson, a professor of English at UCLA and author of "Anywhere But Here," "The Lost Father," "A Regular Guy," "Off Keck Road," "My Hollywood" and "Casebook."
