A 24-runner team from the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health that included Dean Jody Heymann, staff, students, alumni and friends of the school took to the streets for the 2016 Los Angeles Marathon and Charity Relay on Feb. 14. This is the second consecutive year a Fielding team has run the marathon to draw attention to the health benefits of physical activity and raise money to support summer fieldwork fellowships for public health students.
In 2015, the team raised $25,000 — enough to support five students to do invaluable work in the community. The funds were part of the $4.2 billion UCLA Centennial Campaign, which is scheduled to conclude in December 2019 during UCLA’s 100th anniversary year.
