[Update March 1, 2016]
The application period for the next staff advisor to the UC Regents has been extended to Friday, March 11.
Are you a University of California staff member who is interested in public policy, advocacy and the future direction of the university?
Apply to become a staff advisor to the UC Regents, bringing the voice and perspective of employees to UC Board of Regents deliberations and to decision-makers at the Office of the President. Staff advisors serve as non-voting advisors to designated regents' committees; attend and participate directly in committee and board meetings throughout their term of service, and visit many of the campuses to solicit input from staff.
One new staff advisor is selected each year for a two-year term. The term now open for applications runs from July 2016 to June 2018.
You eligible to apply if:
- You are a staff or non-Senate academic employee (the seat is open to both non-represented and represented employees)
- You have at least five years of UC service
The current staff advisors are Deidre “De” Acker, director of campus climate at UC Merced, whose term expires in June, and LaWana Richmond, a business analyst at UC San Diego who will continue to serve until June 2017.
Said Acker of her service: “The role of the staff advisor to the regents was a huge learning experience, even after 27 years in the UC system. We say that we advisors ‘plant seeds,’ so I am looking forward to seeing how those seeds will be cultivated by the staff advisors in the future.”
