Social sciences professor named British Academy fellow

John Agnew

John Agnew, distinguished professor of geography and Italian at UCLA, has been named a corresponding fellow of the British Academy. Agnew’s research interests include political geography, international political economy, European urbanization and Italy.

Agnew has worked around the globe, holding visiting professor positions in such places as Queen’s University, Belfast, and is representative of the British Academy’s interest in globally minded and diverse fellows.

Sixty-six of the world’s leading minds were announced as Fellows of the British Academy on July 21. Fellows of the British Academy represent the very best of humanities and social sciences research, in the United Kingdom and globally. Agnew is among 20 overseas scholars to be selected for their contributions to research in their home countries as well as the United Kingdom.
