Linda Kerns, adjunct associate professor of theater, is directing "Going to St. Ives" at the Actor’s Co-op in Hollywood, now through March 16.
The two-person drama, written by Pulitzer Prize-nominee Lee Blessing, tells the story the mother of an African dictator and the English eye surgeon from whom she seeks help for her failing eyesight. Both women struggle with the moral dilemmas of their actions, and each harbors a hidden agenda.
Kerns has worked as an actress and singer for more than 30 years, having made her Broadway debut in the original cast of "Nine: The Musical." Now an accomplished director, she directed productions of "I Do, I Do!," "Two By Two," "The Fantasticks," "The Triumph of Love," "All I Really Needed To Know I Learned In Kindergarten," "The Traveling Lady" and the world premiere of Matthew Goldsby’s "Makin’ Hay" for the Actors Co-op. She has also directed musicals, including "Side By Side By Sondheim," "Big River," "Little Shop Of Horrors" and "1940’s Radio Hour." Kerns has also performed a number of roles in film and television.
