Thirteen UCLA faculty members were honored on Education Week’s annual list “Edu-Scholar Public Influence Rankings,” placing UCLA third among all institutions. Twelve of the 13 are from the UCLA Graduate School of Education and Information Studies.
The honorees are:
- Marcelo Suárez-Orozco, Wasserman Dean of the UCLA Graduate School of Education and Information Studies
- Carola Suárez-Orozco, co-director of the Institute for Immigration, Globalization & Education
- Pedro Noguera, director of the UCLA Center for the Transformation of Schools
- Gary Orfield, co-director of the Civil Rights Project at UCLA
- Jeannie Oakes, Presidential Professor Emerita in Educational Equity
- Tyrone Howard, director of the Black Male Institute at UCLA
- Louis Gomez, professor of education
- Patricia Gándara, co-director of the Civil Rights Project
- Samy Alim, David O. Sears Presidential Endowed Chair in the Social Sciences
- Sylvia Hurtado, professor of education
- Eva Baker, director of the Center for the Study of Evaluation
- Megan Franke, professor of education
- Mike Rose, research professor of education
“GSE&IS scholars are at the cutting edge of basic research moving the needle in some of the most important information and education issues of our day,” Suárez-Orozco said.
