Dr. Peter Lawrence, chief of vascular surgery and vice chair of the department of surgery at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, was elected president of the Society for Vascular Surgery at the society’s annual meeting in Boston in June.
Lawrence will spend his year-long term focusing on education of physicians specializing in vascular disease and patient care as well as building collaborative relationships with related societies, and strengthening the annual meeting.
Lawrence also holds appointments as the Wiley Barker Chair in Vascular Surgery, the Bergman Chair of Vascular Research, and director of the Gonda Vascular Center.
The Society for Vascular Surgery, which counts more than 5,000 professional members among its ranks worldwide, advances the care and knowledge about vascular disease, which affects the veins and arteries of the body.
