UCLA School of Law has received a gift of $100,000 from the estate of Vicki Lynn Shapiro to support students pursuing work in entertainment law. The gift establishes the Vicki Lynn Shapiro Endowment to fund summer fellowships for law students at the Screen Actors Guild–American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA).
Shapiro, the late wife of UCLA Law alumnus Bernard Shapiro, began working at SAG-AFTRA in 1978. She served on the SAG Foundation Board of Trustees and eventually became its legal affairs director. Each summer, one or two Vicki Lynn Shapiro Scholars from UCLA Law will work at SAG-AFTRA, gaining valuable experience in legal practice at one of the key organizations within the entertainment field.
This gift is part of the $4.2 billion UCLA Centennial Campaign, which will ensure the university’s continued excellence in all areas. The project’s projected completion date coincides with UCLA’s centennial year in 2019.
