Stephanie Jamison, distinguished professor of Asian languages and cultures at UCLA, has been elected to the Deutsche Morgenländische Gesellschaft, a German academic society devoted to a deeper understanding of Asia and Africa.
The society’s publications and congresses promote the study of all aspects of Asia, especially its languages, literature, history, religions and philosophies, forms of law and society, archaeology and its cultures.
Jamison’s research focuses on Indo-Iranian language and linguistics, religion, mythology and gender studies. She was recently elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
