UC retirement plan benefit recipients to receive cost-of-living adjustment

University of California Retirement Plan and UC-PERS Plus 5 Plan benefit recipients will receive a cost-of-living adjustment to their monthly income effective July 1. The increase will appear in checks paid at the end of July.

The 2018 cost of living adjustment is based on the average increase in the Consumer Price Index measured February 2017 to February 2018 for the Los Angeles and San Francisco metropolitan areas.

The July 1 cost of living adjustment rates for UCRP and UC-PERS Plus 5 benefit recipients, including those receiving survivor and UCRP disability income, will be as follows:

  • Those who retired on or before July 1, 2007, will receive a 2 percent cost of living adjustment.
  • People who retired between July 2, 2007 and July 1, 2008 will receive 2.3 percent.
  • Employees who retired between July 2, 2008 and July 1, 2017 will receive a 2 percent cost of living adjustment.

UCRP benefit recipients are eligible to receive a cost of living adjustment after receiving benefits for at least one year.

Therefore, members whose retirement or disability date is after July 1, 2017, are not yet eligible to receive an adjustment.
