Laurence Smith is a professor of geography and an expert in how climate change is affecting the arctic. Smith has extensively studied melting ice in the Arctic and Greenland and he has assisted the World Economic Forum with issues related to the economic potential of a warmer Arctic region.
Smith, who is also a professor of Earth, planetary and space sciences, has assisted NASA in using satellites to monitor global water resources.
Smith is also a member of the UCLA Institute of the Environment and Sustainability.
