An Yin, UCLA professor of Earth and space sciences, has been elected a fellow of the American Geophysical Union (AGU) for "outstanding unification of field observation and quantitative theory to achieve breakthrough insights into the evolution of mountain belts."
Nominees for AGU fellows must have attained acknowledged eminence in the Earth and space sciences, including a major breakthrough or discovery and a paradigm shift. The recognition is conferred upon no more than .1 percent of all AGU members in any given year.
