The work of Greg Lynn, professor of architecture and urban design, is included in the latest exhibition at the National Academy Museum. His "RV Prototype" is featured in "Seismic Shifts: 10 Visionaries in Contemporary Art and Architecture," on view through May 5 in New York City.
The prototype is a 1/5th-scale model of a house that increases living space by rotating in two axes on a robotic base. In addition to a floor in one orientation, one wall and the ceiling surface can be rotated as new floors. See a video of it here.
Also included in the exhibition are the works of Nick Cave, Thornton Dial, Tom Friedman, Vik Muniz, Wangechi Mutu, Kate Orff, Betye Saar, Moshe Safdie and Bill Viola.
