Immune cells absorbing amyloid beta
Blood cells from 12 control subjects (left) and 12 Alzheimer's disease patients (right) were tested for amyloid beta with a green fluorescent marker. All 12 samples from the control group show monocytes (red) loaded with amyloid beta (green), while Alzheimer's patients' monocytes (red) did not take up any green or took up only a minute amount.
