High-resolution thermal map of the south polar region of the moon
(Figure 4b) High-resolution thermal map of the south polar region of the moon. The map covers the region to 80° south latitude and was assembled from Diviner observations obtained in July and August, 2009. Fig. 4b shows Diviner Channel 8 observations, which define the temperatures inside permanently shadowed polar craters that may contain deposits of cold-trapped water ice. Credit: NASA/GSFC/UCLA
