Genetic Pieces of Autism Puzzle
A CNN.com blog reported Thursday on a study by Dr. Daniel Geschwind, UCLA's Gordon and Virginia MacDonald Distinguished Professor of Human Genetics and a professor of neurology and psychiatry, and colleagues showing that two independent mutations disrupt a single gene in children with autism, but not in their non-autistic siblings or parents. Geschwind was quoted. 
Groundbreaking UCLA Filmmaker Dies
An obituary in Wednesday’s Los Angeles Times for filmmaker and UCLA alumnus Jamaa Fanaka referenced Fanaka’s films being screened last year as part of a UCLA Film and Television Archive series highlighting movies made by African Americans who attended UCLA's School of Theater, Film and Television from the late 1960s through the 1980s. Jan-Christopher Horak, director of the Archive, was quoted.
