Campus officials aid in search for missing student

UCLA campus officials are working with the family of a student who has been missing for more than a week.

 

David John Goeser, a senior majoring in English, is under a doctor's care and needs medication, according to a flier  prepared by his family and posted to a Facebook page dedicated to locating him. He was last seen on Pacific Coast Highway in the area of Coral Beach and Los Liones, and his car was found in Pacific Palisades on July 25, the flier states.

 

 

Janina Montero, UCLA vice chancellor for student affairs, said she was asking colleagues at other UC campuses to distribute the flier.

 

"David is a member of the Bruin family, and we are all very concerned for his safety and well-being," Montero said.

 

The Los Angeles Police Department issued a news release on July 25, providing photos and a description and asking for the public's help. A search of the Pacific Palisades area where Goeser's car was found proved unsuccessful, according to press reports.

 

Police said Goeser's roommates last saw him at their Westwood apartment on July 22. His identification, cell phone and credit cards were left behind, police said.

 

The family describes the 22-year-old Goeser as 5'11" and 160 pounds, with chin-length, wavy brown hair and a beard and mustache.

 

The family, according to the flier, suspects he may be heading north to Vancouver, Wash., using public transportation.
