Statement from Bachman family

Barbara Bachman, the mother of Bruin almuna Elisabeth Bachman, continues to recover from the injuries she suffered during an attack in Beijing early in the Olympic Games. Her condition has been upgraded to good at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota.
Elisabeth Bachman, a star volleyball player for the Bruins, and her sisters have posted a statement on the family website.
"All in all, Mom is making incredible progress," the family statement reads, in part. "In fact, the doctors have referred to her as a miracle. She is able to sit in a chair for a couple of hours a day and is starting to walk short distances. Fortunately, she is in a condition where she is comfortable to hold conversations so we can cope and grieve together. Words cannot express how much we all miss our Dad. We are still trying to comprehend why this happened to such a lovable, generous, and heroic man.
"We have started to talk about funeral arrangements. Nothing will be finalized until Mom is strong enough to attend the funeral services. We will keep you updated."
Todd Bachman was killed in the attack, which authorities have called a random attempted robbery by a Chinese man who then jumped to his death.
