For planning purposes only: Details for media covering mayoral debate at UCLA's Royce Hall
WHAT:
NBC4, UCLA and the Los Angeles Coalition for the Economy & Jobs have joined together to co-host a jobs-focused mayoral debate to be broadcast live on NBC4 and 89.3 KPCC-FM Radio. NBC4 will air the debate live from 7 to 8 p.m. and continue it as a live webcast from 8 to 8:30 p.m. at www.nbcla.com. Outside media are invited to cover the debate.
WHO:
The debate, moderated by NBC4 chief political reporter Conan Nolan, will include five of the major candidates confirmed thus far: City Councilman Eric Garcetti, City Controller Wendy Greuel, attorney and radio talk show host Kevin James, City Councilwoman Jan Perry and former technology executive Emanuel Pleitez.
WHEN:
The debate will run from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 28. (No admittance after 6:45 p.m.)
WHERE:
Royce Hall, UCLA campus (map)
DETAILS FOR MEDIA:
Media are strongly encouraged to arrive early to allow ample time for parking, check-in and set-up inside Royce Hall. Seating is limited. Doors will close promptly at 6:45 p.m., and all media must be in place by that time — no exceptions. As this is a live broadcast, re-entry will not be allowed.
Since NBC4 and KPCC are exclusively airing the debate live, no other media will be permitted to carry any live video or audio of the debate. NBC4 will allow other media to broadcast portions of the debate, not to exceed two minutes, within the 24 hours following the debate. NBC4 is prohibiting all online use of video from the debate. NBC4 can provide video for broadcast use, provided it is marked "courtesy of NBC4."
Debate video will be fed out in HD on circuit number 700750 HD/SDI. Standard definition will be fed out on 950190. The feed will also go out on the Switch at LA POOL 2. For questions on the feed, call KNBC NOC at 818-840-4140.
All media must bring valid press credentials to cover the debate. Photographers and camera operators should be prepared to capture images from a distance of about 90 feet, although there will be a brief opportunity to film and take photographs near the stage at the beginning of the debate. Immediately following the debate, mayoral candidates and credentialed media are invited to an informal availability in Royce Hall that will also include the debate moderator, panelists and local political consultants.
PARKING DETAILS:
